Adults Keeping Secrets

When I was a kid and teen,
I hated this.
But now I am in a position
Where I do this myself.

I was around 20 when someone I've known for years
Admitted he suspected a certain person of
Possibly verbally abusing me.
He really knew it, but just did not have the evidence.

At first I was really mad that he kept it a secret.
Now I'm more or less past it,
After many years of counseling.

But I really don't think I can tell the girl I know,
I understand why she doesn't like her stepmom,
And I am with her in not truly trusting anyone
Except one special friend.

Even though I do, and I am.

It's My Day Off

I've said this a lot lately,
To inquiring minds who want to know
Why I'm still in my Pjs,
On my phone playing candy crush,
Or reading and writing away.

Not everyone values downtime like I do.
I value my friends,
but I am not a true extrovert.
I need my alone time.

So while it gets annoying to have to
Repeatedly say this,
It's my day off
And I am doing no "work".

It's Cold Outside

But we had things to do.

On another note, they're saying this won't be a mild winter
like the last couple.

I'm not sure I want to know what that means.
