There is History

For all of our differences,
And new endeavors,
I am proud to say,
We are still friends.
My BFF and I.

And The Next Best Thing Is

In truth, I'm always looking for a good YA novel.
This one hits the spot.

Lack of the Vacations

I am 25 now, but when I was growing up
We didn't take many real family vacations.
Mostly we just went to see relatives that lived out of state -
Many of whom I didn't even like.
Twice we went to other places, but that was because of my dad's work.
A few times we went to places like Cape Canaveral and Disneyworld,
Because my grandparents lived near there.
But we were never allowed to go more than a couple days,
Because the rest had to be spent with them.
I am very pleased to have at least gone those places,
But there are quite a few places I wish we'd gone,
Like the beach or the mountains,
Another country or Hollywood.
Because now we are all grown,
And it's not the same if I go myself.

The Clock of Time

This is the version that appeared in my high school yearbook:

The clock of time is wound but once
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour.

To lose one's wealth is sad indeed
To lose one's health is more
To lose one's soul is such a loss
That no man can restore

This is the only time you own
So live, love, work with a will
Place no faith in tomorrow
For the hands may then be still.
